Dance at Gravity: Find the Right Class for Your Child

September 24, 2026

Maybe your child dances around the living room every time music comes on.

Maybe they're constantly twirling, performing, or making up their own routines.

Or maybe they've never taken a dance class before, but you're looking for an activity where they can move, learn, build confidence, and have fun.

At Gravity Gymnastics in Miramar, our dance program gives children a place to explore movement while developing skills they can carry with them both inside and outside the studio.

From a young child's first introduction to ballet to the energy and personality of Hip Hop, there's a place to begin.

And this October, families will have the opportunity to experience a Gravity dance class for FREE.

More Than Learning to Dance

Dance is fun—but there's a lot happening while children learn the steps.

Throughout class, dancers have opportunities to develop:

  • Coordination and body awareness
  • Balance, flexibility, and control
  • Musicality and rhythm
  • Focus and listening skills
  • Confidence and self-expression
  • Memory and sequencing
  • Creativity
  • Comfort performing in front of others

And just like gymnastics, dance teaches children that learning something new takes practice.

They won't know every step the first time.

They'll learn, practice, make mistakes, try again, and gradually become more confident in what their bodies can do.

That's part of what makes the experience so valuable.

Which Gravity Dance Class Is Right for Your Child?

Our dance classes are organized by age so children can learn in an environment appropriate for their stage of development.

Here's a look at the classes currently offered at Gravity:

🩰 Pre-Ballet | Ages 3½–4½

Class Length: 45 Minutes

Pre-Ballet is an introduction to the world of dance for our youngest dancers.

At this age, the goal isn't perfection. It's helping children become comfortable with movement, music, following directions, and expressing themselves in a structured class environment.

Through age-appropriate ballet activities, young dancers can begin building coordination, balance, body awareness, musicality, and confidence—all while discovering how much fun dance can be.

A great fit for: Young children who love music, movement, twirling, and imaginative play.

🩰 Ballet 1 | Ages 5–6

Class Length: 45 Minutes

As children get older, Ballet 1 begins building on those early movement foundations.

Dancers can continue developing balance, coordination, flexibility, posture, musicality, and body control while becoming more familiar with ballet technique and class structure.

They'll also practice listening, remembering combinations, and working toward new skills over time.

A great fit for: Children who enjoy graceful movement, music, learning new skills, and the structure of a dance class.

Ready to Let Your Child Experience Dance?

Sometimes the easiest way to know whether a class is the right fit is simply to try it.

During our October Free Dance Trial Week, your child can step into class, meet our dance instructors, experience the environment, and see what dancing at Gravity is all about.

🩰 Ballet 2 | Ages 6+

Class Length: 55 Minutes

Ballet 2 gives older dancers an opportunity to continue developing their ballet technique while taking on more challenging skills and combinations.

With a longer class time, dancers have additional opportunities to work on technique, strength, flexibility, control, musicality, and performance quality.

It's a space where dancers can continue progressing while developing the discipline and confidence that come from working toward something over time.

A great fit for: Older children who are ready to continue developing their ballet skills and take on new challenges.

🎵 Hip Hop | Ages 6–10

Class Length: 55 Minutes

For kids who love upbeat music, energetic movement, and the chance to bring their personality into what they're learning, Hip Hop offers a completely different dance experience.

Dancers work on coordination, rhythm, musicality, movement combinations, and performance skills in a fun, high-energy class environment.

It's also an opportunity for children to build confidence and become more comfortable expressing themselves through movement.

A great fit for: Kids who love music, high-energy movement, learning choreography, and expressing their personality.

What If My Child Has Never Taken Dance Before?

That's okay!

Children don't have to walk into their first dance class already knowing what they're doing. That's what class is for.

Starting something new is an opportunity to learn.

For some children, that first class might mean learning new terminology or movements. For others, the biggest accomplishment may simply be walking into an unfamiliar environment, meeting a new teacher, and being willing to try.

Over time, those small moments can turn into confidence.

Finding Something Your Child Loves

Not every child connects with movement in the same way.

Some love the structure and technique of ballet.

Others come alive when the music starts and want the energy and freedom of Hip Hop.

The important part is giving children opportunities to explore, discover what they enjoy, and find a place where they're excited to keep learning.

And sometimes, one class is all it takes to discover something new.
