We Are Recruiting!
Developmental Team Try-Outs
Your Daughter Is Invited!
We’re hosting a special try-out event for gymnasts ages 6–10 who are ready to take their skills to the next level! This is a fantastic opportunity for any young athlete who loves gymnastics, shows potential, and is eager for a new challenge.
Our Developmental Team is a stepping stone toward our Competitive Team and is designed for gymnasts who are committed to learning, growing, and exploring their full potential in the sport.
While this is an exciting opportunity, please note that participation in the try-out does not guarantee selection. Our team will carefully evaluate each athlete’s readiness and fit for the program before making final decisions.
If your daughter is eager to take on new challenges and explore her potential, we encourage her to participate in this special event!

Try-Out Process: Step by Step
We want to ensure that both gymnasts and parents feel prepared and confident going into the try-out experience. Below, you'll find a step-by-step breakdown of what to expect on the day of the event-from arrival and evaluations to how results will be communicated.
Our goal is to create a positive and supportive environment where gymnasts can showcase their skills, coachability, and potential. If you have any questions along the way, we encourage you to participate in our Q&A session for parents during the event.
Here's everything you need to know about the try-out process:
Arrival: Upon arrival, gymnasts will be given a name tag and assigned to a group. They will stay with you in the lobby until the event begins.
Evaluations: Gymnasts will be brought onto the gym floor where we will begin the try-outs with a short warm-up. After the warm-up, each group will rotate through skill evaluations on each event—Floor, Bars, Beam, and Vault. Additionally, gymnasts will be assessed on their conditioning and flexibility. Our coaches will not only evaluate a gymnast’s ability to perform gymnastics skills but will also assess technical execution, physical readiness, and cognitive abilities. This includes important factors such as listening skills, the ability to follow instructions, focus, and overall coachability.
Parents: While the gymnasts are being evaluated, parents are invited to attend a Q&A session with one of our coaches. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the program and ask any questions you may have.
Results: Evaluation results will be sent out on the Monday or Tuesday following the event. Please note that receiving an invitation to the try-out does not guarantee a spot on the developmental team.
- If a gymnast is selected, families will receive a congratulatory email with the recommended class placement and additional details.
- For those not selected, a coach will personally follow up to discuss the evaluation results, provide feedback on areas for improvement, and outline possible next steps.

What is Developmental Team?
The Developmental Team at Gravity Gymnastics is a selective, invitation-only program designed for young gymnasts who have demonstrated potential, talent, and a strong foundation in gymnastics. It serves as a bridge between recreational gymnastics and competitive gymnastics, providing athletes with the skills, discipline, and mindset necessary to progress toward our Competitive Team.
What to Tell Parents About the Developmental Team
Purpose:
The Developmental Team is designed to prepare gymnasts for more advanced training and potential entry into our Competitive Team. It focuses on building strong fundamentals, enhancing technical skills, and developing discipline and commitment required for higher-level gymnastics.
Training Structure
- Gymnasts will train twice per week and with higher expectations than in recreational classes.
- They will receive focused coaching on skill progression, strength training, flexibility, and technique refinement.
- Emphasis will be placed on cognitive abilities such as listening skills, focus, perseverance, and following instructions.
What Makes It Special?
- This is an exclusive, invitation-only opportunity, meaning your child has shown exceptional potential to be considered for this program.
- Gymnasts will participate in two In-House Competitions per year.
- Gymnasts in this program will be surrounded by like-minded athletes who are motivated, hardworking, and eager to improve.
- It fosters important life skills such as goal-setting, resilience, and time management.
Expectations
- While the Developmental Team is not yet a competitive team, it does require dedication and commitment beyond regular classes.
- Families should be prepared for increased training hours and a structured environment focused on growth and improvement.
- Selection for this team does not guarantee future placement on the Competitive Team, but it is the best pathway for gymnasts who aspire to compete in the future.
